Skating the Eastlink Trail

02 Mar

Over the weekend I finally was able to do something I wanted to do for awhile now. Skate the entire length of the Eastlink Trail. Even before I got to 5 meters on the trail I had to turn around and go back. I forgot my helmet lol.  I started at what I thought was going to be the hard end.

I had read up about the trail on various cycling forums and most of the comments were about how it was fairly steep in parts of the bushland. Either I’m fitter then what I thought or the cycling guys are whimps :)

Only time I got pasted by someone on a bike was near the end. Only then it was while I had slowed down to look at the map. I also think everyone on a bike was travelling in the other direction. Read the rest of this entry »

Wow

15 Dec

I took my Vaypor’s out on Sunday. Just for a test run. It felt weird at first I’ve never had a low cut boot before. I still have a long way to go before I can say I’m decent with a low cut boot. I also need to heat mould them. Which I never did with the Semi-Races.

I went for a spin today with my Semi-Races before I got out of the driveway I noticed they didn’t roll anywhere as well (could be because of the MPC wheels are just about dead and the ABEC7 bearings have seen a fair bit of water). I took ruffly the same track as Sunday. I was pushing hard for most of it. Sure I was 2/3minutes a head of Sunday. But there is a hell of a lot that I can approve on with the Vaypor’s. I’m happy with the Vaypor’s very happy.

I’m working on getting the GPS data on google maps.

Bont Vaypor’s

13 Dec

I now own 2 sets of Bont skates. 07 Semi-Races and a pair of late 07/early 08 Vapors (Not cheap either $1500+). I haven’t had a chance to use them yet as its been raining all weekend dam it. Its meant to clear up tomorrow hopefully I’ll get a chance then. Pics below.

I have also updated my gallery resolution to match full HD specs. 1920×1080 :)

Haven’t posted in a while.

09 Dec

At the start of last week. I went out for one of my usual after work skates around town. Pissing of drivers etc like always lol. Anyway about half way home I was just cruising down one of the hills doing somewhere around 20km/h. I went to place my right foot down after pushing off. Some how it just collapsed on me I can usually keep my balance and stay upright but this time I couldn’t. My left knee and hand have taken most of the damage. I had trouble bending/walking for a couple of days but its getting better.

Sunday I went for the first time since it happened and I wasn’t that much slower then usual. My knee hurt abit but nothing major. I also had a look at where I feel. I think the footpath is worse then what I ended up like lol :)

I think maybe my Bont Semi-Race skates where getting back at me. I have decided to get another pair. This time Bont Vaypor’s I had been thinking about it a couple of days before the fall. I placed an order on Friday for a Black and Red pair. They are the top racing skate that Bont makes. For the nice low price of $1600 :)

Work is kick ass as well. I get to wear a hi-vis vest all the time now (We get free hi-vis uniforms each year but I never wear the stuff). Company policy it would seem so no one gets run over by a fork lift in the factory. Never mind I stand a better chance of getting hit by meteor then a fork lift where I work.

I’ll try to keep regular updates happening again.

Couple of skate YouTube clips

16 Nov

First clip is a little old I never got around to posting it up till now. Its from the start of the month. You get to see some of my fancy foot work near the end :) The bullet camera is mounted on my right Bont Semi-Race boot. Using just the flap that covers the laces. (Warning if you get motion sickness you might not want to watch this as it has lots of motion when I skate instead of roll)

Second one is from today. The last video I made of this hill was at 1am and the image wasn’t the greatest. I didn’t set out to do this downhill run but I was close by so what the hell. There is a strong headwind as you will hear. So I only managed about 50km/h.
